With an upcoming MWSCC Wakefield day on the 11th March it was time to get the Civic prepped. I had a few things I wanted to tend to, leaking distributor, spark plugs, battery & wheel alignment.
But firstly, I just received my helmet back from a vinyl guy who did a run of HONDA visor banners, looks pretty cool!
The distributor was starting to leak again, so it was assumed to be the internal O ring. Once receiving the new OEM part from my mate I pulled apart the distributor. First time doing this, good to see everything else inside seemed ok.
Took a bit of stuffing around to get the old O ring out, made quite some mess too which was cleaned up, then pressed in the new one. Much better
Love having an enclosed garage to work in sometimes. Decided to take the start plugs out and give them a clean, they look a tad dirty. Need to look into a better solution for cleaning them instead of degreaser/brake cleaner.
Battery also decided it wanted to die so my mate got me a new one with the distributor O ring. We had a small dicussion as it seems I go through them, thinking maybe the use on track is sloshing around the acid too much and damaging the cells inside. Will need to look for a 'race' type battery in the future.
Mandatory string alignment to check everything is straight
