Recaro SPG + Honda Nationals prep

A few months ago a friend had a Recaro SPG at his house which I had a test sit in, which resulted with me falling in love with the seat, it's some comfy and snug to my body, with the harness holes in the correct place for me.

I've always been a bit 50/50 with the Bride, harness holes way below my shoulders, the should part of the chair didn't cover the width of my shoulders, and I was quite squished in it especially with all the fatty food I tend to eat nowadays. So I waited for a Recaro SPG to come up for sale as it seemed to fit me quite well, and here we are. It's a bit rough here and there, but all the padding is still good and it was only $400, easy peasy!

In a previous post in regards to the new coilovers, the front tyres are hitting the external reservoirs on full lock. Honed Development previously made some steering rack spacers which simply clip onto the steering rack and prevent to from turning all the way, and this was the solution. Yez Racing whom supplied my coilovers had some for me so I went back to get them, sneaky pic with their track ED!

Honda Nationals was coming up at Winton in Victoria again, so it was time to prep the car. I took the car for an alignment, fresh engine & gearbox oil, upgraded to proper high temp performance brake fluid as I've always used the normal stuff, and put the steering rack stoppers on.

I also purchased some braided brake lines as it's something I should have upgraded to many years ago, even though my old OEM ones are still going fine, but they have been rubbing through the outer lining to with the braided steel starting to show.. However I was unable to in time for Honda Nationals because the external reservoirs on the front were in the way. I'd have to drop the coilovers and with the alignment already done, I decided to leave them until next time. Also not to mention the hard lines have probably never been undone before, because we tried the rears and they just started to strip (using the correct spanners dw)..
