For 2 weeks I've been trying to get the Civic to start however theres some electrical issue not letting it fire up. It'll happily crank, but then one night trying a lot I could hear the cranking speed slowing down, and at the same time I could smell something burning.
Under the dash a ground wire was jumping around and burning! I had added a few grounds throughout the car, and even with a few mates who are quite knowledgable we still couldn't figure it out.
I had planned to take the car to Toys Garage to have it tuned, a lot of my mates take their cars there and never have any issue. He tunes safetly to ensure the motor lasts, but also ensures you have plenty of power.
Had a chat with Toy over the phone and he agreed to take a look over the car to try figure this electrical issue. My partners father offered to tow the Civic, so I got everything sorted in the coming days, then we hired a trailer and off we went!
At Toys Garage (tuner).
2 days later I get a call from Toy saying his got it sorted and the car starts! I pretty much rushed down there the next day!
He did compliment my efforts considering not my profession I got pretty much 99.95% done myself! The issue was, the loom simply needed 1 extra ground. He added it under the dash for the ECU to a bolt near by, and that made it start right up! Kicking myself a bit this was the result, I added all the grounds it came with but it was explained all chassis's are different and sometimes in the swap I'm doing, they sometimes need some extra grounds.
As he started the car so quickly he also decided to tune it. As it was a freshly rebuilt motor we went with a run in tune which was turned down and limited to 7500rpm. It made a health 130kw on this run in tune. I also had put in Penrite run in oil beforehand.
All I can say is I was extremely excited, my dream motorswap for the Civic was finally done. A huge feeling of self achievement. My mate Chris with a EF8 CRX took me down, so we took the Civic around the block for a test drive, and then I took it home. Once home I finalised fitting the interior and all. I gave it a few small squirts, it felt so fast already! I've atleast tripled the power over the stock motor.
