Winton Raceway is a 6-7hr drive from Sydney - NSW to Benella - VIC, and a fellow ED friend Al came along as well. We loaded the cars up with tools, spare parts, fluids and we set off Friday lunchtime. The track day was the following day (Saturday) and boy it was a lot of fun!
On the way down we had a little dilemma.. About 3-4hrs into the try I braked as we started to go down a hill and all of a sudden I hear a bang and the front left wheel kinda locked up. Pulled over on the side of the road, not really the ideal place to stop but we had no choice.
It quicly became apparent the caliper had come loose, the 12mm bolt had fallen out and when I applied the brakes, the pads would have gripped the rotor and it launched the caliper into the rim. We were kinda half way, with no town nearby, so we looked at what bolts on the car we could use, and it so happened to be the bolt holding the brake line to the car (I think) was the same size so we used that in replacement and cable tied the brake line back to the bracket and we were on our way. This was a hour or two ordeal trying to figure something out.
~ Saturday
Overall, had an amazing time! Learnt so much and met some cool people, I ran my mates wheels with some used Achielle ATR Sports I picked up locally a few weeks back, just to get my through this track day, they were alright but everyone else were running grippy Hankook's which seemed to be the tyre to go for.
I finished 5th last which I was happy with as it was my first track day, much more room for improvements. It was then time to get new bushings all round and some proper tyres, but the main thing was more seat time for experience. But at the end of the day, Nugget Nationals is to have fun with other Nuggets, its an even environment for all the cars, and I'll defs be returning! Heres the write up from the event:

Enjoy some photo spam from the day.
Just want to say a big thanks to Al who came down, went through a few hickups but he was there to assist and sit on the side whilst i had fun out on the track, next time you'll get your car out on the track! Al needed to get home so we left the track and headed straight home, probably never do this again I was quite exhausted but pumped from the day, and on a few red bulls.
